 Personal Thank You Note
A hand-written thank you note is an expression of appreciation and one that is rare in this age of emails and other social media. Communicating your thoughts and feelings in a card recognizes the thoughtfulness of another. Taking the time to write and send a handwritten note says something about you, too – it illustrates the personal way you express appreciation -- and becomes part of the interaction between people.

Choice of Cards
Choose a fine-quality, well-printed card the recipient will enjoy. Your choice of cards often expresses your own personality and tastes as well.  Select a fine art note card from dcrdesign.us

Topics and examples
A personal thank you note can be written for a variety of reasons. Don’t be afraid to use personal phrases and let your personality shine. Here are few examples:

Gift…
Thank you so much for the lovely birthday gift. You know my tastes so well – I enjoy all kinds of tea and hadn’t tried this one before. Let’s get together and I can brew you a cup!

Specific kindness…
Thank you very much for taking the time to work with me on my resume. Your help made such a difference! I know how busy you are and appreciate your time. I will let you know how the job search goes.

Meal…
Thank you for such a delicious meal and great companionship. It was so fun to catch up on things. Let’s do it again next month – send me some dates that work for you, and this time, you choose the restaurant!

Thoughtful words or actions…
Thank you for your words of wisdom at a difficult time for me. Your humor made it all better and gave me a chance to take a deep breath. I appreciate your care and concern.

Help with housework or changing a tire…
You are amazing! Thank you so much for your help getting that spare room ready for guests. It took no time at all with your help and, gosh, your decorating tips made the room comfy and cozy. I will let you know John’s parents’ comments – they are sure to be fabulous! Thanks again and let me know what I can do for you.

Professional Thank You Note
There are several reasons to send a hand-written Professional Thank You Note. One is to express your appreciation (for an interview, job well-done, professional support) and another -- it sets you apart in this day and age. A well-written note will make a positive impression on your boss, colleagues, or potential new employer. Make sure to use correct titles and addresses and be very specific. Remember, it sends a message about you as well, (grammar, phrasing, spelling, penmanship, neatness, and ability to express yourself clearly). Choose a card and use phrases that reflect your professional personality.

Choice of Cards
Think about how you want to be perceived and choose the card accordingly. If you aren’t sure you have chosen an appropriate card, ask someone whose opinion you respect…before you send it. Select from abstract fine art note cards at dcrdesign.us

Even though hand-written notes are rare these days, it is worth the effort to make the special connection that happens for the both the sender and receiver. Yes, it takes a bit of work to find the right card and thoughtfulness to express your feelings, but that is exactly why it is so special. It is a process that happens between two people – enjoy it! A hand-written note makes a connection in a way that an email or text message doesn’t – it is a bit of you on the page – your handwriting, your essence – it makes it personal, and very often, heartfelt.  Happy writing!
